As part of my outreach activities among diverse communities, I tell stories with environmental themes from different cultural and religious traditions of the world. Are you interested in having a environmental storytelling presentation at your community organization? Then send me an e-mail: kasim [at] wildlandsleague.org
I have given a number of storytelling presentations to raise awarness about wildlife conservation in Ontario.
Testimonials:
“As a guest speaker at the 2010 Youth Summit for Biodiversity, Kasim demonstrated first-hand the positive impact that storytelling can have on a young audience. Speaking with practiced skill, he entertained a group of 60 youth with a selection of environmentally-focused tales originating from different parts of the world. His presence as a storyteller attracted the attention of the group, and his confident delivery allowed him to frame the various themes within each story, tying them into the overarching theme of biodiversity which was at the core of the Summit. A great and engaging presentation which served to put our weekend-long event in a global context.” - Gabe Camozzi, Youth Programs Assistant, Ontario Nature
“Kasim does an excellent job of creatively adapting a classic 1000 year old tale by making it relevant to the present day, raising awareness among both children and adults about the environmental crises we face in Canadian society.” – Tasneem Kinaci, Community Member, Jerrahi Mosque of Canada.
“As a guest speaker for a grade 11 World Religion class and an ELL Geography class, Kasim showed tremendous versatility with his ability to reach two very different audiences. Understanding the students needed context, his pre-reading activities effectively set-up the story and learning that was to come later. His unique approach engaged both sets of students at the same time effectively connecting to learning outcomes relating from biodiversity to traditional knowledge. Kasim proved storytelling is not only an art form but a valuable educational opportunity. Thanks again, Kasim.” -Tyler Connochie, Teacher, The Woodlands School, PDSB.
